It's been a long week. Bella had her tonsils out last Friday but before that she had a really nasty cold. So now she has a super sore throat, nasty cough and a runny nose. Poor thing hasn't wanted to eat anything she'll take little bites of things here and there. We've been doing our best to make sure she stays hydrated. That's the biggest thing. But even that is a challenge with her right now. And to top it all off, sweet Lyla baby has now got the same nasty cold that Bella had. Actually the Dr. said it's a sinus infection. So she is just miserable also. So pretty much it's been super fun around here with 2 whiny baby girls!
We took Bella to Primary Children's at 10:30 on Friday morning, that's where she had her surgery done. I'm so glad she had it done there. Everything is totally catered to children, hence the name. She had a couple awesome nurses give her a little Pre-Op class so she new what to expect and wouldn't be so scared. She loved that and still talks about the nurses. They also gave her some liquid valume to help relax her nerves before they wheeled her off in her wagon for sedation. She was so funny once the valume kicked in. She would say "this is an awesome bed" about the wagon she got to sit in. And was slurring her words and just talking silly. When the Dr. came to wheel her back she told us that we couldn't go with her because the nurse said Mom and Dad wouldn't be able to come so she was good with that. We gave her kisses and she went on her way. They said she was perfect and very calm. Thank you, valume!
The surgery is only about 8 minutes so it was only about a half hour total before the Dr. came to talk to us. He said she did great and said it was very satisfying to get her tonsils out because they were so big and corroded. So once again we hope this will be the answer to her unexplained fevers. I was then able to go back and see her, it was sad seeing her little body hooked up to some machines and her little face looking so sick. She didn't wake up fully for about 45 minutes after surgery. She would open her eyes then go back to sleep. She had a hard time drinking anything so we were there for a while. She had to be able to drink a certain amount before they would let us leave. It was a long day to say the least but she did so great and Lyla was such a good girl.
Today is Wednesday so 6 days post-op and she has done pretty well. Friday she was just mostly out of it and Saturday was by far the worst day. She had a fever and was so fussy and sick all day it was sad and we felt so bad for her. Sunday and Monday she perked up a bit. She felt good enough to want to play but still felt bad enough to be whiny and cranky. Tuesday was another rough day. She was fussy and tired and just not feeling well. The Dr. did say she will have good days and bad days for about 2 weeks. So we've got a ways to go still. She is to be on a soft diet for at least 2 weeks. Which is fine cause she won't eat anything anyway. We've just been trying to give her soups, ice cream, jello, pudding, yogurt and anything else "soft" she will eat. And lots of drinks. She's actually sitting here next to me drinking some water and eating some mini marshmallows...whatever she'll eat at this point.
We wanted to say thank you to our family and some sweet friends and neighbors that have stopped by with special presents and surprises for Bella. That was so nice and much appreciated. Thanks for thinking of us. Mimi (my mom) will be here tomorrow morning. That is the earliest she could get away. But I will take her whenever I can get her. It will be nice to have her here to help since both girls are sick. I have errands that need to be done and honestly it will just be nice to get out of the house for an hour by myself! And Eric and I will be able to go on a much need date sometime this weekend. And maybe she'll even let me lock myself in my room for a nap. Since both girls end up in our bed most nights we're pretty tired. And it's getting a little crowded. A queen bed just isn't big enough for 4 people!

I am so glad that it all went so well! I have felt bad because we had family in town for the last week and a half and been very busy! If you need anything let me know! (Even if you just need me to get you some caffeine to keep you going! ;)
p.s. your pink shirt at the hospital is super cute! ;)
Oh I love my girls! And Eric too!
I'm glad it was a good experience at the hospital, that makes so much better I'm sure! Hope she heals quick and that her fevers will go away for good! We'll have do something, you need to get out =)
I'm so sorry its been a rough week. But i'm glad she's doing okay. If it makes you feel any better, both of my kiddos have the most ugly, hacking coughs and disgusting noses that started on Monday...its been a long week over here too. My sister is coming over to let us go out for a much-needed afternoon date tomorrow too. I hope you guys enjoy your date this weekend too! I don't know how much help I can be right now (especially with a couple of sickies over here too...) but please let me know if you think of ANYTHING. :)
oh, and yay for the playdough! I'm glad she liked it! that makes me happy. :)
