We were in the bathroom just now and Bella got on the scale and when she got off she said "mommy weigh" so I get on to weigh myself. When I step off she looks at the scale and says "oh, 289". Ha hahahahah!! I'm still laughing. Are you kidding me? ?! That was so funny! I know I've gained a few but wow, 289! Kids, they sure know how to make you feel good!

Vesicoureteral reflux
What is vesicoureteral reflux you ask. It is when urine from the bladder flows back up into the kidneys, this is called vesicoureteral reflux. Urine normally goes only one way. When urine flows back up from the bladder to the kidneys, germs can get into the kidneys. This can lead to infection in the urinary tract. If reflux isn't noticed, the repeated infections can lead to scarring and disease of the kidneys. Reflux happens in about one-third of children who have urinary tract infections (UTIs).
This makes sense as to why Bella was getting sick every few weeks. I'm so glad we have got this figured out. Our experience at Primary Children's was really good. I'm so glad my Dr. had us go there. They were so great and patient with Bella. She cried through the whole procedure but it went surprisingly fast and was pretty easy. I know she was uncomfortable but she did so well. She would say "ouwie potty" and "Bella all done". It was sad for sure but I'm so glad we got to the root of the problem. Our Dr. put her on a daily antibiotic for 3 months. If she doesn't get any infections during the 3 months she is on the antibiotic then he will take her off and see how she does. Both my Dr. and the Radiologist said a lot of times kids just grow out of this and it will eventually go away. But for now she will have to be on daily antibiotic to ward off any infection she will get from her urine going back up into her kidneys. And she will have to be retested again in a year. I hope this antibiotic works for her and she can stay well. If she does get an infection while taking the antibiotic we will have to try something else. So let's just pray this works so we don't have to mess with a bunch of other medications and or surgery.
Thanks for all the comments and calls of concern. We really appreciate it.

Tomorrow's a BIG day
We are taking Bella to Primary Children's tomorrow afternoon for some more tests. Hopefully these tests will tell us something and be the end of testing for our poor little babe.
The test she will be getting are:
A Renal Ultrasound that is where the kidneys are examined to determine their size, shape and exact position.

A Renal Ultrasound that is where the kidneys are examined to determine their size, shape and exact position.
A VCUG (Voiding Cysto-ure-thro-gram) that is a test recommended for
children who have a history of UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections),
or who have had problems with voiding. This test is used to
look at the healthy functioning of the bladder.
Since all of the other test they did on her a couple of weeks ago came back normal. The Dr. wants us to have these test done to make sure her bladder and kidneys are functioning how they should. I hope it's nothing serious but at the same time I hope it will tell us something so at least we have an answer.
I feel so bad for her. She has no idea what's coming. The VCUG test does not sound pleasant. She hates it when I wipe her little potty so she's really not going to be happy when random strangers go sticking foreign objects up there. Poor thing. I'm glad we are going to Primary Children's though. They have a lot of experience with these tests and with children so hopefully it won't be as bad as I'm imagining.
I'll keep ya posted.
Wish us luck!
